Updated 28 October 2026 · Data: OpenJob catalogue, each listing checked on the official page · Redazione OpenJob
Turing is a real company that recruits developers, scientists and specialists for AI training and evaluation projects, with roles published on work.turing.com. Applying is free. Its listings range from PhD-level science and coding pods to annotation and rater roles; only some publish an hourly rate, so check the pay line on each listing.
Turing at a glance, with today’s numbers
- Open Turing roles on OpenJob: 192
- Roles with a published hourly rate in USD: 23
- Lowest published hourly rate: $15 · highest: $150
- Median minimum hourly rate: $15
- Applying is free and always happens on the official Turing site.
Is Turing legit?
Turing publishes its roles on its own work portal, work.turing.com, and every Turing listing on OpenJob links there. The listings describe remote project work for AI training and evaluation, from PhD-level science pods to annotation. Many Turing listings do not publish a rate, so expect pay to be discussed during selection, and never pay anything to apply.
What Turing work involves
- Building and reviewing terminal-based coding and science tasks for AI evaluation.
- Leading small pods of trainers as a domain expert.
- Data annotation, including safety annotation and quality review.
- Rater and generalist roles, for example evaluating apps on a personal smartphone.
How much Turing pays
The figures in the box above are calculated live from the Turing roles we currently list, using only rates the platform publishes, without conversion or estimates. Ranges are usually set per person, by experience, language and location, so the top of a range is a ceiling rather than a promise. Compare roles in the same unit, per hour or per task, and read our guide to advertised rates vs actual earnings.
Who can apply
Many Turing roles are highly specialised: PhD or equivalent experience in sciences, strong Python or other languages, and Linux skills for terminal-based tasks. Others, such as raters and annotators, ask for specific devices or careful guideline work. Check each listing’s eligible countries.

Frequently asked questions
Is Turing legit for AI training jobs?
Yes. Turing publishes its roles on work.turing.com, where you apply for free, and the listings we track describe remote AI training and evaluation projects. Many listings do not state pay, so ask about the rate and pay unit during selection before committing time.
How much do Turing AI jobs pay?
Only some Turing listings publish an hourly rate; the live figures for those are in the table above. Specialist and pod-lead roles generally require advanced qualifications. For listings without published pay, the rate is set during selection.
Do I need a PhD to work for Turing?
Not for every role. Science and pod-lead roles often ask for a PhD or equivalent experience, but Turing also lists annotation, rater and generalist roles with different requirements. Read the experience line of each listing below.
What is a Turing pod lead?
A pod lead coordinates a small group of trainers, often five to ten, on a specialised project: reviewing tasks end to end, checking correctness and mentoring trainers. These roles usually require advanced expertise in the field.
How we collect this data
OpenJob is an independent aggregator, not an employer and not affiliated with Turing. We list only roles we can trace to an official page, show pay exactly as published and remove closed roles; the numbers on this page recalculate automatically. Details on our methodology page.
Some application links are referral links: applying stays free, and this does not change which roles are listed or their order. See Transparency.
