3 AI jobs for finance professionals: research, presentations and evaluation

Finance experience translates into AI work in several distinct ways. A sell-side analyst may be useful for testing valuation reasoning; an FP&A professional may be better at constructing realistic spreadsheet tasks; someone who prepares investor materials may contribute through financial communication. Applying to all three with the same generic finance CV misses what each project is buying.
This shortlist covers three micro1 roles already in OpenJob's verified database. All three have genuine finance responsibilities, but they differ sharply in seniority and output. The limited platform variety reflects the relevant inventory, not a claim that one platform dominates finance recruiting.
Three portfolio examples, one for each deliverable
These are original practice suggestions, not micro1 assessment questions. For research, give a fictional company flat sales and a rising margin: explain which operating assumptions would need evidence before accepting the model. For presentation review, redesign a fictional revenue bridge so recurring growth and a one-off acquisition cannot be mistaken for the same driver. For workflow evaluation, build a small cash-flow task with an invoice paid in the following month and define a separate score for timing accuracy. Each sample should show the reasoning behind your decision. A polished slide does not demonstrate model ownership; a correct spreadsheet does not demonstrate investor communication.
Three different kinds of financial expertise
| Role | Published hourly range | Geographic scope | Most relevant background | Availability and review |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Equity Research Expert | $175–300 | Remote; country eligibility not stated | Company coverage, earnings analysis and valuation | Application route visible; checked 2026-10-13 |
| Finance Specialist | $150–350 | US, UK or Canada; remote | Investor presentations and financial storytelling | Application route visible; checked 2026-10-13 |
| Financial Expert | $30–40 | Remote; country eligibility not stated | Finance, accounting, FP&A, banking or consulting | Application route visible; checked 2026-10-13 |
The listings use $; the verified records do not confirm an ISO currency. These figures are published ranges, not guaranteed rates, workloads or comparable take-home incomes. The explicit country restriction in the Finance Specialist description takes precedence over the broader country list in its structured page data.
Equity Research Expert: for analysts who have owned the research
This role is a strong match for someone who has maintained company models and taken responsibility for written research over several earnings cycles. The preferred background is sell-side research, including research associates with direct model ownership and lead or publishing analysts. Experience in a named sector matters because useful feedback depends on knowing which business drivers deserve attention.
The work includes assessing financial datasets, earnings revisions, peer comparisons and valuation drivers. It also involves writing research summaries and explaining investment theses. A general interest in stocks does not provide the same evidence of fit as having covered companies professionally.
The published $175–300 hourly range may attract attention, but the practical filter is the depth of research experience. The role is remote, but the description checked on 13 October does not establish an eligible-country list. Confirm that micro1 accepts contractors in your country before completing an assessment.
No specific language certification is published. Clear written and spoken communication is requested, and the professional context is presented in English. Before applying, make sure you can explain a model assumption and defend a valuation judgement in that working environment. View Equity Research Expert.
Finance Specialist: the presentation portfolio matters
The title sounds broad, but the role description is specifically about executive presentation review. micro1 wants someone who can reconstruct PowerPoint slides, improve financial data visualisation and turn analysis into credible investor materials. The overlap between finance and editorial judgement is the central skill.
This may suit investment bankers, consultants and finance professionals who have prepared pitch decks, board reports or investor presentations. It is less convincing for someone whose work is entirely bookkeeping or whose presentation experience is limited to selecting a template. A portfolio showing how you improved financial communication would address the brief more directly than a list of software names.
The published range is $150–350 per hour, with ISO currency still unconfirmed. The description restricts the remote role to the US, UK or Canada. Do not treat a broader metadata location list as permission to work from another country. No formal language threshold is stated, but excellent written communication and financial content editing are requested.
Previous AI experience is not required in the description. That does not remove the need for financial analysis, modelling, valuation and PowerPoint expertise. Ask how presentation quality will be assessed and which software or file formats the actual assignment requires. Read the presentation review role.
Financial Expert: a more relevant route for operational finance
The Financial Expert project focuses on evaluating AI agents through realistic finance workflows. The tasks include designing multi-step prompts, creating objective scoring rubrics and reviewing outputs. Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel, are prominent. Written assessments must be clear in English.
This is the most plausible starting point in the shortlist for an experienced accountant, FP&A analyst or banking professional who has not worked in sell-side research. The published $30–40 hourly range is lower than the specialist ranges, but the relevant experience is broader. A stronger match at a lower nominal rate can be a better application than a speculative attempt at a senior research role.
The role is remote. The description checked on 13 October does not specify eligible countries, so residence eligibility remains a question for the recruiter. Remote work does not automatically mean worldwide eligibility.
The role does not ask for prior AI experience. Rubric development and annotation experience are additional advantages. A useful application could explain how you would score a cash-flow forecast for consistency, completeness and formula accuracy, using an original demonstration with invented data. Check Financial Expert.
Comparing the offers without being distracted by the maximum
Start with the deliverable. Can you judge a company model, redesign an investor presentation or specify a finance workflow? Then check residence, software and communication requirements. Only after those filters does it make sense to compare a quoted rate.
None of these pages establishes a permanent full-time salary or an uninterrupted stream of work. Before accepting, obtain the currency, assigned rate, billing unit, workload and acceptance rules in writing. Avoid using a previous employer's models, client decks or confidential research as test material. An original, anonymised example should show your reasoning without transferring someone else's information.
How we selected these jobs
The starting point was OpenJob’s verified finance inventory. We reopened the official pages, checked the roles against their actual responsibilities and retained the narrower geographic restriction where page fields conflicted. These are three relevant opportunities, not a ranking of every finance AI platform.
Is a CFA or accounting qualification compulsory?
The verified descriptions do not establish one universal mandatory credential across this shortlist. They emphasise demonstrable professional experience. Do not invent a certification requirement, but do not confuse its absence with entry-level eligibility either.
Choose the role that matches the work you have already done. A specific explanation of your contribution is more persuasive than describing yourself simply as a finance expert.
Sources and verification limits
The three official micro1 descriptions and their application forms were checked in the browser on 13 October 2026. The research and workflow descriptions do not list eligible countries; the presentation role specifies the US, UK or Canada. An application route does not guarantee selection or assigned hours. The preparation exercises above are original editorial examples, not platform assessments.
